Happy New Year, friends! It's always a joy to witness a new year. No matter how bad a previous year is, a new year always feels special. It gives us the gift of hope and of a fresh start. As the calendar resets, it also offers us the opportunity to reset and recalibrate.
None of us know for certain the events that will happen in our lives this year, nor how they will happen. There would be predictions of doom and prophecies of hope, but when it comes to the tiny details of the how and when, only God knows that.
However, as believers, we can be sure that grace has already been made available to navigate the 2026 terrain, and victory over 2026 is assured.
One of the scriptures worth meditating on this year is 2 Corinthians 6:11-13 (MSG):
Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!
Let me highlight a few things this scripture is saying to us:
→ God longs so much for us to enter this wide-open, spacious life that He has made available for us. It is our inheritance in Christ Jesus!
→ We haven't been fenced in by any means. No limitations of gender, race, colour, socio-economic background, educational qualification, etc. Nothing disqualifies us from this glorious life that God has designed for us. Therefore, do not disqualify yourself!
→ If we have at any time in our lives felt small, the scripture tells us it comes from within. Remember, as a man thinks in his heart, so he is. Small thinking is not from God. Repent from it this 2026, by thinking and believing bigger.
→ Your destiny wasn't designed to be small; the Almighty God didn't create us to be small. Yet we live our lives in a small way. In 2026, we must fix this anomaly. Our lives must bear fruit that we serve a big God.
The instruction for 2026 is this:
We may not be able to predict the hows and whens of 2026, but we can take on a certain posture that leaves room for us to host heaven on earth. We already know it's possible, so why not lean into it!
